Managing Triggers
Triggers are those events that ignite old thinking patterns. Typically making the recovering person want to pick up or use again. Alcoholics and Addicts spend the rest of their lives managing their triggers and at Reality Recovery, we identify the most present during their daily lives and assist in either setting boundaries to avoid them or help them use their tool set to overcome them.
We cannot avoid triggers because we don’t know what the future brings. We can’t look into a crystal ball and determine when certain events will happen to trigger us or even if those events will trigger an urge to use. So, we train our mind, body and set a lifestyle that will enhance our chances of overcoming those urges when they arise.
