All of our students must submit to daily drug screens. dealing with the principal of honesty (the 1st Step) Some of our students have been prescribed a very old medication called antabuse/DISULFIRAM. This drug can help patients with an alcohol abuse problem. It is not a cure for alcoholism. When taken with alcohol, disulfiram produces very unpleasant effects such as, severe headache, flushing, vomiting, and chest pains. Other than that you don’t feel much of anything. Taken as monitored, disulfiram can be a big tool of success in an individual’s recovery program. Hey, the chief of staff knows where to buy alcohol free deodorant and hair spray, so you can smell good, look sharp and be sober too. Our history of observing patients on antabuse in early recovery has shown that it can be very helpful. Disulfiram is prescribed as part of an addiction therapy program known as Aversion Therapy.
