Reality Recovery's Director

The Executive Director of La Paz-Palm Beach is Stan McKnight, who has long-term sobriety and has lived in the Palm Beach area for over 40 years. Stan is very active in community affairs, both inside and outside the realm of sobriety. Stan is registered with the State of Florida's Certification Board as a Certified Addictions Specialist. He is also the former Director of a Court Ordered DUI Education program and continues to work as a client advocate for first offenders.

A certified Therapist/Sober Coach/Case Manager/Interventionist/Treatment Coordinator bought this great house in 2006. He called it La Paz (Spanish for peace). Spending just a few minutes in the house and you will understand its name. The pictures on the site only begin to illustrate the peace and serenity felt throughout La Paz House.

In Stan’s private practice, which involves Interventions, Detox Admissions, Treatment Coordination Placement, he saw that there were few facilities available, where recovering alcoholics and addicts could learn to fit into a 12 Step Community and still have their own private room. Add the concept of the Medical Model as part of the program and Reality Recovery became a reality.

Stan regularly attends 12-Step meetings with clients living at the La Paz House and introduces them to others, who may help guide them on their new “journey of change.”

Prior to opening the La Paz House, Stan developed a twenty-eight bed Women’s Aftercare facility in Palm Beach County. He helped numerous women reunite with their families after their stay in Primary Care treatment. He serves regularly as a Court Advocate and has assisted mothers regain custody of their children.
